UCD Sink Dockers

UCD Consolidated their spot at the top of the Leinster Senior League Saturday Premier 1 Division with a 3-0 win against Vintage Dockers.lsl

UCD AFC continued where they left off in the Leinster Senior League Saturday Premier 1 Division with a comfortable 3-0 win away to Vintage Docklands in Irishtown last Friday night.

Vintage Docklands began the game with a high tempo and put the Belfield Students under pressure from the first whistle. It was UCD's first attempt on goal brought first blood though as Niall Hanley burst into the box to finish expertly past the stranded keeper. Darren Muldowney broke down the right hand side and picked out Hanley with a perfect cross to put UCD 1-0 to the good against the run of play.

UCD continued to defend resolutely while trying to hit the Dockers on the break. As the half wore on UCD began to get the upper hand and Darren Muldowney added to his earlier assist with a well taken goal to make it 2-0. Robbie Keogh picked up the ball in midfield and played the ball to the feet of Stiofain Sexton who flicked the ball expertly through the defence for Muldowney who made no mistake one on one with the on rushing keeper.

UCD's first half goals knocked the home side's confidence and in turn allowed the Boys in Blue to grow into the game. The second half started with UCD completely dominating midfield with Thomas O'Brien controlling UCD's attacks.

The third goal arrived on the hour mark when Rory O'Huigin finished smartly from a corner. Darren Muldowney was involved again swinging a corner across the face of the goal, missed by Tristan Dent and converted by O'Huigin.

UCD saw out the game in comfortable fashion with Ross Ferrer, Niall Wright and Daniel Connolly going close to extending UCD's lead further but the Students settled for a 3-0 win and a five point lead at the top of the table.
