Daly Puts 3 Peas In A Pod

UCD AFC moved even further ahead in the Leinster Senior League Premier 1 Division.lsl

UCD AFC continued their run towards league glory with a 4-0 win over Peamount Moyle. It was a clash of top versus bottom and inevitably UCD came out on top. A hatrick from Colm Daly and an Alan Sutton volley were enough to see off Peamount Moyle.

Colm Daly opened the scoring when UCD were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box. Daly stepped up and curled it into the far top corner to give UCD the lead their possession deserved. Daly made it two when he latched onto a perfect cross to tap home from close range.

Alan Sutton was not about to let Colm Daly have it all his own way and got his name on the scoresheet soon after. A sweetly struck left foot volley left the keeper with no chance.

UCD were intent on playing their way through their opposition and it threatened to undo their visitors on several occasions but their finishing let them down.

Daly was on hand later in the second half to make sure of all three points when he finished off a move that owed much to Darren Muldowney's persistance. Muldowney picked up the ball and set off towards goal, making his way into the box. A sharp lay off to Colm Daly left him with the simplest of finishes.

UCD's four goals were cleverly created and expertly finished but they could have had much more. Niall Hanley smashed a header against the woodwork and Ruairi O'Huiginn nearly scored a goal of the seaon contender. Leaving an opposition player for dead with a deft flick, his volleyed effort hit the post before bouncing to safety.

UCD finished the game strong and never looked in any danger. The addidition of Ross Ferrara in the second half gave UCD the horsepower they needed to get across the line in a comfortable position. Rumours a Formula 1 team were missing an enging could not be confirmed as UCD roared further clear of the chasing pack.
