UCD cruised past the challenge of UCC in the semi final of the 2010 Harding Cup competition. UCD breezed past UCC, scoring six goals to run out 6-1 winners. UCD were the better team from the outset as they moved the ball quicker than their opposition and used their pace up front to exploit deficiencies in the UCC defence. Samir Belhout continued his excellent scoring form with a brace in the first half that left the UCD team holding a narrow 2-1 advantage going into the half time break. UCD held a 2-0 advantage until UCC reduced it by one when Ger Barron made an acrobatic save from a UCC free kick only to see the rebound neatly placed past him into the bottom corner. UCD sized up their opposition in the first half and killed them off in the second with a display of finishing that was worthy of the highest stage. Tyrone McNeills terrorised the defence before finishing neatly past the despairing UCC keeper. His effort was added to when Samir Belhout completed his hat trick in fine style leaving the deflated UCC keeper with no chance. It is said that three is the magic number but UCD worked doubly hard to prove that in this case 6 is the one they were chasing when Briain O'Brochlain pounced with a fine brace to ensure UCD enter the final in good spirits.
