UCD CONTINUE PROGRESS WITH THE HELP OF PENALTIES

placeholder UCD passed into the Semi Final of the 2010 Collingwood Cup following a hard fought match against fierce rivals UCC winning 8-7 on penalties. UCD took the lead in this game through an expertly taken goal from first year Commerce student Paul Corry. Corry wheeled away in celebration delighted to see his effort beat the unfortunate UCC keeper and mark his return to form. UCC were given a lifeline when a back pass to UCD net minder Ger Barron saw him make a costly error that resulted on his name appearing on the score sheet beside the words "own goal". To win a Collingwood Cup requires both mental and physical strength and UCD showed they had plenty of both prevailing 8-7 on penalties after a goalless period of extra time. University of Ulster Jordanstown lie in wait in the semi final. UCD: Barron, Langtry, Kelly, Leahy, O'Connor, Corry, Fallon, Houston, McMahon, Belhout, McMillan Sub: Timmons for Houston (80), Melvin for Belhout (85)
