UCD on song as we reach CUFL semi final

UCD 12 - 0 Colaiste Stiofan NaofaCUFL

Wednesday saw our College's and Universities League side return to action after the Christmas break as we took on Colaiste Stiofan Naofa in the quarter final of the CUFL.

Colaiste Stiofan Naofa looked to be up against it from the start with a number of regular starters from before the break missing as clubs wouldn't release the players for the game.

It was a tight opening to the game, however Jason McClelland broke the deadlock mid way through the first half. From there it was all one way traffic as Georgie Kelly, Gary O'Neill and Yoyo Mahdy got on the scoresheet before the half time break to give us a comfortable lead heading into the second half.

After scoring two minutes before the break, Yoyo Mahdy added his second of the game just two minutes after the restart and a further four were added in the next 13 minutes, as Daire O'Connor grabbed his first of the game before Jason McClelland added his second just two minutes later. Georgie Kelly then took centre stage as he grabbed two in as many minutes to complete his hat trick and put us 9-0 up with just 60 minutes on the clock.

With twenty minutes remaining Liam Scales got in on the action to extend our lead into double figures before Timmy Molloy and Gareth Coughlan added their names to the long list of scorers to complete the rout.

Twelve goals and eight different scorers saw us progress to the CUFL semi final, where we will face DCU at home on the 13th February. Keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter pages where we will confirm the exact details as soon as we have them!

Next week sees us head to Belfast for the Collingwood Cup where we will face Maynooth in the quarter final which will kick off at 2.30pm in Queen's University Belfast!
