Mick O'Donnell was back in UCD to defend his team's 5's crown on Saturday morning.
It was a case of deja vu on Saturday morning as UCD legend Mick O'Donnell lead his crack team of five a side specialists to the final of the 2012 UCD Soccer 5's. In the final they met Transilvania FC, the first of two sides from the Romanian side plying their trade in United Churches league.
After a gruelling group stage, followed by two knock out matches it was time for the showpiece final. Both sides exchanged early blows as the sides were locked at 1-1. The score then changed to 2-2 as time ticked away and the dreaded penalty shootout loomed large on the horizon. In the end it was Mick O'Donnell's "Where is Belfield Park?" who prevailed and for the second year in a row the €500 top prize was handed over by UCD supremo Martin Russell. The winning side also included UCD AFC "Alumni", John Martin, Robbie Griffin and Declan Fitzgerald.
UCD AFC would like to thank all teams that took part in the tournament and contributed to a wonderful day of 5 a side football.
