Tony Sheridan - Graduate of the Year!

Congratulations to Tony Sheridan on being named the Bank of Ireland Graduate of the Year at last nights UCD AUC Sports Awards.Tony Sheridan Graduate of the Year

Tony's dedication to the club over the last 40 years has been instrumental to our success at all levels, including the League of Ireland, Colleges Teams, Leinster Senior League and even the Superleague.

His association with the club initially began as a player in the Superleague, during his own University studies. However, it wasn't long before his leadership and organizational skills came to the fore and he was running the Superleague.

During his student days he also volunteered to manage, with his first managerial role being with the UCD 3rd team where he became player manager. By the time he finished his Commerce degree he was asked on to the Executive Committee of the club, where he has remained to this day. Throughout his time with the club he has been central to the clubs community ethos of providing football for as many students, at all levels.

Along with Diarmuid McNally, Tony formed a very successful managerial partnership in 2002 for both the Leinster Senior League and varsity representative teams. In terms of the Leinster Senior League teams, the partnership has achieved 10 promotions in 15 years. They have also won numerous Leinster Senior League Cups and reached the Intermediate Cup final in 2014. He has also claimed 10 Harding Cups, 7 Collingwood Cups and 7 CUFL titles in the last 15 years which is a phenominal achievement.

Perhaps his biggest contribution to the club has been the management of the finances of the club, particularly since the passing of the Dr. Tony O'Neill.

There is practically no aspect of the club that Tony Sheridan has not played a part in, whether its stadium manager of the Bowl, managing teams, running the Superleague, managing the club finances or playing himself. He has enhanced the lives of thousands of students who have passed through the Soccer Club at every level.

Well done Tony, and we hope for many more successful years to come under your guidance!
