U20 Championship SF: Bohemian FC 2-1 UCD AFC

UCD were knocked out of the Under 20 Championship at the Semi Final stage by Bohemian FC.Bohemians_crest

UCD AFC fell in the semi final of the Under 20 Championship following a heartbreaking loss to Bohemians in Dalymount Park. Andy Boyle had given the Students the lead and they held that lead until the last 5 minutes of the game when Bohemians struck twice to send UCD out of the competition.

UCD took the lead in the first half when Keith Ward swung in a lovely cross which Andy Boyle attacked and drove hte ball past the keeper with his head. UCD began to control possession and put some good moves together but the end result did not increase UCD's lead.

UCD started the second half brightly and almost put themselves further ahead lead when Tom O'Halloran controlled the ball across his body before firing a shot destined for the top corner but was denied by the agile Bohemians netminder. UCD's next chance arrived from a corner and this time the Boys in Blue were denied by their own player as Stephen Doyle saw his goal bound effort come back off Andy Boyle.

UCD's hearts were broken when with the game winding to a close UCD gave up possession and were caught on the break. The shock goal knocked UCD out of their stride and they were hit with a sucker punch when substitute Gary Burke picked up a long ball on the edge of the box, beat his marker and smashed the ball into the back of the net, sending Bohemians through to the final where they will face Shamrock Rovers.
