Dr Tony O'Neill Under 19 National League: Wexford Youths 1-4 UCD AFC

UCD AFC left Ferrycarrig Park with all three points.Presentation1

UCD AFC notched another 3 points with a convincing 4-1 win over Wexford Youths in Ferrycarrig Park. Two goals from Dean Clarke, one from Chris Lyons and an own goal gave The Students all three points as they continue their rise up the Under 19 League Table.

UCD began the game brightly and put their opponents under pressure from the off. Dean Clarke was causing all sorts of problems for the home side and it was his endeavour that gave UCD the breakthrough. Great play down the wing was followed by a brilliant ball across the box. With UCD's strikers ready to pounce the unfortunate Wexford centre half intervened and deflected the ball past his own keeper.

UCD's confidence was slightly misplaced and it lead to the concession of an equaliser. The Students defence gifted possession on the edge of thier own box and the Wexford striker was left with the simple task of finishing from just inside the area.

With their wings clipped slightly by the sudden equaliser, UCD took their time finiding their feet again, but when they did it was to prove the end of Wexford's challenge. The ever willing Robbie Slater made a wonderful run between the opposing centre halfs, picked up the through ball and slotted the ball past the keeper to give The Students a 2-1 half time lead.

The second half saw UCD further control the game revelling in the increased amount of possession. Dean Clarke continued to terrorise the Wexford back four and when he unleashed a great strike on goal the keeper could only watch it slip through his hands.

The two goal advantage became three not long afterwards. Sean Russell picked up a short corner and dribbled into the box. He squared the ball for Chris Lyons and he finished emphatically past the Wexford custodian.
