UCD AFC dispatched of Salthill Devon impressively in the Under 19 National League.
UCD AFC continued their free scoring start to the under 19's league with a 4-1 victory over Slathill Devon. Two goals from Chris Lyons and one each from Dean Clarke and Darren O'Donoghue left the Students with a 4-0 half time lead. Salthill could not bring themselves back into the game despite a late consolation.
UCD began the game brightly and were ahead within 15 minutes. A classic team move resulted in almost every UCD player touching the ball as it moved from back to front through Salthill's resistance. Chris Lyons found himself on the end of a ball into the box and having evaded a defender he took his opportunity to slot the ball under the advancing keeper.
Ten minutes later UCD doubled their lead and it was that man again, Lyons. This time Robbie Slater was the provider as he played a clever ball into the box, Lyons latched onto the pass, skipped round the keeper and finished calmly into the empty net.
Not long later UCD had a 3 goal lead. With the Salthill defence struggling to contain their opponents it was just a matter of time before they conceded again. Luke Fitzgibbon found himself in space and an excellent delivery landed at the feet of Dean Clarke and he wasted no time in beating the keeper.
Sean Russell was the provider as they notched up a fourth goal. Russell's free kick was as inviting as they come and Darren O'Donoghue was in no mood to hang around and he finished expertly.
UCD had a slow start in the second half and the amount of chances did not quite match the first half's fodder. Sean Russell had the best chance when his free kick crashed off the bar.
Salthill pulled a goal back late in the game but it had little impact on the game as the Students dominated their opponents from start to finish.
