As the club captain Mick Leahy more than any player embodies the UCD AFC ethos. Taken in as part of the 2007 scholarship programme. Mick made his way into the senior side. Throughout that period Mick captained various Univerisity sides to Collingwood, Harding and “A” Championship titles. After an exodus  in run up to the 2011 season Martin Russell handed the captains arm band to the young center half and there has been no looking back.

Michael completed a degree in economics and politics and is now studying for a Masters in Common Law. Over the years he has become one of the most consistent centre halves in the league and leads his young side with maturity and a level of dedication beyond his years.
