Sligo Rovers v UCD AFC, The Showgrounds, Tuesday 13th July, KO 19.45

UCD AFC travel to Sligo Rovers on Tuesday 13th JulySligo_Rovers_FC

UCD manager Martin Russell is not overly concerned that Friday’s 2-1 defeat at Pats was the Students’ third successive losing game.

“It’s performance that really matters to me, “explains Martin, “I asked for an improvement after the Bohs game and I got it.   Paul O’Conor’s full debut was particularly pleasing.”

Russell is looking forward to the visit to Sligo tomorrow (Tuesday).   “I was very impressed with Paul Cook’s team when they visited the Bowl recently.   His lads play good football and competing against that kind of opposition provides a test we relish.”

As the season moves into the second series of fixtures it’s usually accompanied by increased use of the treatment table and UCD are no exception to the trend.  David McMillan is out for a few weeks and doubtful for the trip to Sligo are Greg Bolger (groin), Brian Shortall, Sean Harding (knee) and Chris Mulhall.   So Michael Kelly, who captained the A team that beat Cobh on Saturday and team mate Gareth Matthews, who has himself only just returned from long term injury, are standing by for squad duty.
