Preview: UCD vs Longford Town

Kick-off: 7.45pm, UCD Bowl, Friday 7th JulySSE-Airtricity-League

Friday night sees us return to the UCD Bowl for SSE Airtricity League First Division action against Longford Town as we look to put pressure on league leaders Waterford FC. Last week's 0-0 draw away to Wexford FC saw the gap to Waterford remain at four points and Collie will be looking to close that over the coming weeks. Collie was pleased with his sides general performance last week however they were left to rue some poor finishing as they failed to break the deadlock and ultimately saw them drop two points.

"Last week proved a frustrating night at the office for us. I can't fault the performance too much, we had plenty of the ball and created a lot of good chances however our finishing let us down, and quite simply wasn't good enough. In fairness to Wexford they worked really hard and defended well at times but we missed a great opportunity to close the gap on Waterford. We know we are going to have to have a big improvement, particularly in our finishing if we are going to give ourselves a chance of picking up the result we need."

This will be the third time we have faced Longford this season, as we came out on top 2-0 winners here at the UCD Bowl earlier in the season thanks for goals from Jason McClelland and Georgie Kelly, whilst in the City Calling Stadium Daire O'Connor's first have strike secured a slender 1-0 win and the three points.

The injury list has started to grow for Collie in recent weeks, with Gary O'Neill, Simon Power and Gareth Coughlan all set to miss out through injury. Greg Sloggett also remains a doubt with an ankle injury and faces a late fitness test ahead of the game, however he is expected to be cleared to play.
