Airtricity League Premier Division: Bray Wanderers v UCD AFC, Fri 1st June, Carlisle Grounds, 7.45pm KO

UCD AFC head into the summer break with a very competitive fixture away to Bray Wanders, kick off at the Carlisle Grounds is 19:45.  _32W8405

Since their last league fixture UCD have had mixed results in various cup competitions. A dominant 3-1 win over LSL side Phoenix FC in the second round of the FAI Cup was balanced with a disappointing loss to St. Patrick's C.Y in the Leinster Senior Cup.

www.ucdsoccer.com sat down with Martin Russell ahead of the Bray game and began by asking him about those cup matches; "It’s good to still be in the FAI cup, and it’s something to look forward to after the break. Although the Leinster Senior Cup game was disappointing, in terms of the result, we will take that experience with us into the Bray game." The recent win against Sligo Rovers in the league helped to bring to a halt a run of seven games without a win and Martin is keen to enter the break on a high; "We are focused on the Bray game and would very much like to enter the break on a high. We all know that Pat Devlin's side are competitive and that it will be a tough game, however we will be looking to play our brand of football and come away with all the points."

UCD AFC have struggled with injuries throughout the season, often being down to the bare bones in terms of playing resources yet the team have managed to remain competitive in the league, good showings against the likes of  Sligo Rovers(twice) and  Shamrock Rovers have meant that despite their difficulties the Students are only six points behind sixth placed Shelbourne.

Looking ahead to the break Martin Russell was conscious of the benefits that it could bring his squad;"I know that the players are looking forward to it and in terms of the squad it provides us with a good opportunity to get some rest and recuperation, at times this season we have been down to the bare bones in terms of injuries so in that regard the break is a positive thing."

UCD AFC restart their campaign with a home fixture against Dundalk on Monday the 22nd of June.
