The photo shoot for the UCD AFC Player of the Year awards took place this morning in the UCD Bowl.

After a tremendous season between the UCD posts Ger Barron walked away with the prestigious Player of the Year Award. Some spectacular saves combined with his organisational skills made him the stand out player for UCD AFC in the 2011 campaign. Midfielder Paul O'Conor was a close second, as he grew into his midfield dynamo roll.

Darren Meenan enjoyed an impressive first season with the Students and as a result walked away with the New Player of the
Year award. Trying to pick out Darren's best goal of the season is a tough task due to the high quality of all Darren's strikes and his skill on the wing was a constant thorn in the side of opposition defences all year long. Hugh Douglas came in second place following a strong finish to UCD AFC's Airtricity League Premier Division campaign.

The most competitive award of all was the Young Player of the Year gong. With so many bright young stars to choose from it proved to be extremely difficult to pick a winner with the voting very close. David O'Connor eventually came out on top thanks to his commanding performances at the heart of the UCD defence. His ability in the air and composure on the ground was unrivalled as he helped steer UCD to safety. Runner up in this category was midfield linchpin Paul Corry.
UCD AFC would like to thank all the players, staff and of course the fans for voting in this year's Player of the Year awards.
