Preview: UCD vs Cabinteely

Kick-off: 7.45pm, UCD Bowl, Friday 3rd August 2018Cabinteely Poster 2

After a 1-0 victory last Friday night against Athlone Town, we now sit seven points clear at the top of the First Division with five games left to play. However Friday night sees us start a difficult run in which sees Cabinteely FC the visitors to the UCD Bowl. In the past few years, Cabinteely have proven a tricky opponent for us, and they ran out comfortable 2-0 winners at the end of May.

Speaking ahead of the game, Collie knows his side are in for another difficult game on Friday night.

“Over the last few years the games between us have been really close. Pat [Devlin] knows us, and our style of play very well from his time here and since he has gone in there, they’ve been able to pick up some good results against us and they’ll be looking to do the same again on Friday night. If we have aspirations to win the league, then it’s important we concentrate on our own game and look to get the result and the three points we need to maintain our lead at the top of the table.”

Collie will have a full contingent available for selection this week with no injuries or suspensions to contend with. Meanwhile, Collie will have new signing Conor Davis available for selection after he received the necessary clearance to play after he completed his transfer from Reading FC earlier this week.
