Dylan Watts signs for Leicester City

UCD AFC are delighted to confirm the transfer of Dylan Watts to Premiership Champions, Leicester City for an undisclosed fee. Thanks Dylan

Dylan, from Blackrock in Dublin, joined our under 19 side from St Kevin's Boys in 2014 and has since progressed to our first team, where has played an inspirational role at the heart of our midfield. Despite only being in fifth year in school at the time, he played a major part in our Europa League campaign last season and was named man of the match in our historic victory over F91 Dudelange.

He has made twenty appearances for us in all competitions this season, scoring twice including a vital winner against Drogheda United at the end of June.

Dylan began his football with St Joseph's Boys in Sallynoggin where he played for up until under 16's before moving to St Kevin's Boys for a year before signing for our under 19s. He played a crucial role with our under 19s Enda McGuill Cup winning side in 2014/15. He was one of four UCD AFC players which played a major part in the Ireland Schools side which won the Centenary Shield in 2015, and was also called up to Paul Doolin's Irish under 19 side for their UEFA European under 19 Championship Qualifiers in November where he started all three games.

Speaking ahead of the move, Dylan said:

"I'm really looking forward to the challenges ahead. It is a big opportunity for me, and it is brilliant to be joining the Premier League champions. I'd like to thank Collie, Pat and Evan for giving me my opportunity in the first team and I owe a lot to them for believing in me at such a young age. Also to the players and all the staff around Ucd who were fantastic during my time there."

Collie O'Neill was full of praise of Dylan, who he believes is one of the best players he has ever worked with.

"Dylan is one of the best players I've ever had the pleasure of working with, technically very good with good quick feet. He's made great strides in the last 2 years from not being a regular in our U19's to being one of the first names I put on the teamsheet for the first team. If he continues to make the same progression, then there's no reason why he can't eventually make his premiership debut."

Moving to the current Premier League Champions offers a fantastic opportunity for Dylan, and everyone at UCD AFC would like to wish him the very best for the future and would like to thank him for his service to the club.
