Match Preview: UCD vs Drogheda

Kick Off: 7.45pm, UCD Bowl, Friday 15th AprilSSE-Airtricity-League

Last week's 2-1 victory over Shelbourne has moved us up to second in the league, however we have another tough game against Drogheda United to come on Friday, before facing league leaders Limerick FC the following week. Speaking ahead of Friday night's SSE Airtricity League First Division game, Collie O'Neill was delighted with his side's performance last week and will be looking to push on now over the coming weeks.

"We had a good win last week as Tolka Park is never an easy place to go and get 3 points, I was happy with the majority of the performance especially the work rate off the ball but there is always room for improvement. We created a number of good chances both from play and from set pieces. Set pieces are something we have been working on and they are a vital part to every first division game. I'm delighted we have been able to add that extra dimension to our game this season, and Maxi has been brilliant that way. Every time he goes up now he is looking a real threat and is giving defenders something to worry about and he is now our top scorer!"

"We haven't really hit top gear yet this season but we're not far off it, hopefully now after a good performance last week we can start to build on it and belief we will be able to put a run of results together starting with Friday's game against Drogheda United."

Tomas Boyle is back in contention for Friday's game after recovering from his knee injury, while Jason Byrne will continue to miss out but is hopeful of returning to training early next week. Collie is delighted at the prospects of having both players returning to action.

"Hopefully now over the coming weeks we will start to have some of our more experienced players coming back into contention which will supplement our young squad well. Tomas Boyle is back in contention for Friday and Jason Byrne hoping to return to training next week, and having players like these available will be a huge benefit."

Ryan McLaughlin will continue to miss out with a hamstring injury, while Cathal Brady will also miss out with a rib injury. There are no suspensions for Friday's game.
